Not *just* 2018.

Yep, it's the time of the year again to share insightful predictions for the year ahead. This year, I am not going to do it. Based on all the technology predictions that are being launched at us, we can safely conclude that they'll be largely similar than last year's predictions, but faster, bigger, and more amazing. And trying to make predications as to the state of the world (largely influenced by what we are witnessing South of the Canadian border)…it'd would just make me sad. We finished quite a crazy year and I can't see how 2018 is going to be much brighter.
Last year, I called out my own two personal objectives for 2017: balance and talent. For me, 2017 has been a great year. After 12 amazing years at Cisco and a few months off with the family while traveling and enjoying a great summer, I joined George Brown College to help put together a vision and innovation agenda that will guide the College into the next decade. At the College I will focus on shaping the learning and academic experience for future generations in support of the skills that are needed for a digital (faster, bigger, and more amazing) future.
I am incredibly excited about what 2018 has to offer. My new team at George Brown College (marketing, international, registrars office, applied and institutional research, partnerships, entrepreneurships, and alumni) is nothing short of amazing and together we will be able to lead the change. What makes a year a great year is mostly grounded in the people that one works and interacts with. With my family and friends, colleagues and team members, people in industry, and everyone else, I know I have the right ingredients for yet another great year.
And I hope, that you have this to. I wish everyone an incredible 2018 where you get to fulfill your own potential and promises. I hope you also get to surround yourself with the people that matter; bring positivity and happiness to your life; and make 2018 a year to remember.

Happy New Year.
